Makeup Mandy: A girl’s perfect day on Melrose Avenue!

So, maybe it’s been a long overdue day with your favorite gal pals … or you are visiting LA and are trying to navigate the arteries otherwise known as 110, 101, 10 and 405 Freeways … but the point is, you want the PERFECT GIRL’S DAY.   A little yummy outdoor lunch, shopping and a makeover sound good to you?

Then head over to Melrose darling.

Head down La Cienega toward the Hollywood Hills, and turn LEFT on Melrose.  Yes, I know.  You thought you were supposed to turn right.  That’s a whole different type of Melrose Day.  Equally cool, just different.

This Melrose is anchored between La Cienega and Robertson.  Yes, that Robertson.  Home of Chanel, The Ivy, paparazzi, etc.  That again is another day.  This afternoon jaunt features a sweet little strip of the street that can give you a really great Saturday or Sunday.   Here are some of my favorite things to do:

1.  Shopping at Kitson.

2.  Outdoor lunch at Le Pain or Urth.  Le Pain if you want to feel European and have a real waiter.  Urth if you want to feel really LA and visit a spot often filmed in Entourage.  Up to you.  I personally love the gazpacho with avocado at Le Pain.  But the Three Berry Cake at Urth is yummo (I think it’s from Sweet Lady Jane, my favorite birthday cake EVER!) … anyway, I digress.

3.  Then, head over to Makeup Mandy for one of my favorite things to do natch, the makeover.   Founded by celebrity makeup artist Amanda Jacobellis, this makeup studio makes Hollywood style makeup accessible to everyone.  But don’t get it twisted, they have their fair share of high profile clients who drop into the studio as well.

Picture 1 This darling little spot is a perfect place to come and try some very cool products.  Like botox in a stick for some heavy duty refreshing, organic lash enhancers and some of the prettiest makeup colors ever.  But what they do best, what they are known for?  Lash Bar to the Stars.  Nothing will make your face wakeup immediately like some expertly applied falsies.

Both Julie and Mandy deftly apply them for a perfect night on the town.  They last a long time, whether you go with party lashes or with full on extensions.  You DO have to take care of them though. And speaking of night on the town … ask them for restaurant/bar suggestions. They know all the hautest spots.

Drop ins are welcome, but we do suggest booking ahead of time .  Visit her site or call them at 310-858-1970 and tell them Maxi from Vanity Girl Hollywood says, “Hi!”
