Tokidoki

We’d like to welcome guest blogger Nancy Ciu of Ms. Nancy’s Fancies to our Vanity Girl crew of guest bloggers. We really to love hear directly from all of you – both professionals in the beauty in the industry AND dedicated makeup junkies who have full time careers elsewhere.  Nancy is a computer engineer by day, beauty blogger by night.  How very Batgirl of you N!  We met her through Twitter (which as been VERY good to us here at VGH) after she read about us on Makeup Geek), and we were struck by her passion for all things pretty, fun and of course – makeup.   She proposed writing about her love of tokidoki which I really like because the aesthetic reminds me very much of those awesome Harajuku girls I would see running around when I lived in Harajuki with one of my best friends Shannon right after college.  BTW, Nancy’s favorite Vanity Girl is Carrie Underwood, for her clean look and radiant glow.  And the Vanity Girl mirror on Nancy’s lust list?  The pink Starlet.  Great choices N!

Now let’s start with a little background information on tokidoki first:  tokidoki was founded by Italian artist Simone Legno.  It started as his personal website showcasing his portfolio of art.  Simone’s art is highly imaginative and energetic, and it also projects a very positive and hopeful image to people of all ages.  Simone’s website quickly attracted people from all over the around, and in 2003, co-founder of Hard Candy Cosmetics (which also happens to be one of my favorite lines) flew Simone out to LA to build tokidoki into what is now a very coveted brand that consists of a collection of apparel, bags, footwear, jewelry and other novelty items.

Here are some of my favorite tokidoki pieces:

I love puppies, princesses, crowns, and of course pink!  This might just be the perfect hoodie that I need =p

Picture 45Tokidoki for Marvel Spiderman Tee: Look how cute spiderman is!  Looks much better than the real version of spiderman in my eyes =p  And our little cactus friend Bastardino is just adorable :)

Smashbox Tokidoki Soft Lights And Brush Set:

This was a limited edition piece and is no longer available, but luckily discounted premium beauty retailer beflurt still sells it, at $12.99.

Picture 50And my most favorite piece - the tokidoki collection for Hello Kitty!!! I actually already own a tokidoki Hello Kitty handbag which I carry to work everyday:

So what do you Vanity Girls think of tokidoki?  I absolutely adore it! :)
